Have you ever wanted to look like your favorite celebrity? If so, you are not alone. Thousands of people across the world are eager to resemble Hollywood stars and have undergone plastic surgery to achieve their desired look. From women requesting buttocks enhancement surgery to have Kim Kardashian’s voluptuous rear end to men asking for chin implants so they can have Ryan Gosling’s chiseled chin, we receive dozens of requests from patients here at Shafer Plastic Surgery to look like famous celebrities.

However, one man’s journey to look like his favorite star has captured the attention of the entire world. He has transformed himself over the course of several surgeries to look like the Man of Steel himself, Superman.

Herbert Chavez may only be 35 years old, but he has already undergone 19 plastic surgeries to look like Superman. Chavez, a Calamba City, Philippines resident, has undergone several Rhinoplasty surgeries, liposuction on his lip, jaw realignment, pectoral implants, and abdominal implants – to name a few. His journey to become Clarke Kent began at the tender age of 5, when Chavez fell in love with the superhero while watching him on TV.

Now, Chavez celebrates the fruits of his labor and takes to the streets in full Superman attire in an attempt to bring a positive message to children and fans.

“I feel like a Superhero whenever I pull on the costume, but my mission is not to save the world but to help in my own small way and bring a smile to the faces of local children,” said Chavez.

But how do you keep up with Superman? After all, the comic book superhero embodies the epitome of perfection. As Chavez will say, the road hasn’t been easy, but he has no regrets.

In addition to the plastic surgery procedures he has already undergone, Chavez also undergoes maintenance procedures , including maintenance on his cleft chin, which was created using hydrogel, and requires constant adjusting when he becomes dehydrated, as the gel expands in water.

Though he has achieved his goal of resembling Superman quite well, Chavez has no plans to stop his transformation just yet. His next goal is to undergo an operation to make him taller and one to enhance and enlarge the appearance of his abdomen and buttocks.

But once he reaches his goal, will Chavez become addicted to plastic surgery like so many others before him? Treatments like liposuction, Rhinoplasty and facial fillers work wonders to help improve the appearance of physical features on the body as well as the individual’s self esteem, but there comes a point when a patient takes things too far and continues to alter themselves, even when there are no imperfections to correct. Actress Amanda Bynes and Reality TV star Heidi Montag have both taken their surgeries too far, continuing to change aspects of their bodies that do not need improvement.

Experienced plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer warns patients that too much of a good thing, even surgery, comes at a price. He explains that plastic surgery is not a decision that should be taken lightly and anyone considering a treatment should discuss their ideas during the initial consultation to determine if they are a good candidate for plastic surgery.
